HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) is the Secure version of the HTTP protocol used by web browsers like Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera, etc. An HTTPS connection will encrypt data communication between the browser and the webserver. This kind of protocol is primarily used for login pages, sites which provide financial/private data.

SSL or TLS is the key cryptographic protocol that is used to establish an HTTPS connection.
